Abchurch was recently invited by the LSE to present at its Asia Capital Markets Day, where Julian Bosdet, CEO of Abchurch, shared his expertise and experiences in assisting with the listings of Chinese companies onto London markets.
The presentation included factors holding back some investors from investing in Chinese companies, despite constant growth in the region and some impressive financial performances. Julian discussed various findings that emerged from a recent survey conducted by Abchurch examining investor perceptions of Chinese companies listed in London. The survey found that corporate governance is ranked higher than company performance in criteria for investing in Chinese companies listing in London.
When asked what could be done to improve the perception, respondents identified Non Executive Director (“NED”) involvement and experience, a consistent track record on corporate governance, and communication with investors to be the top three actions that Chinese companies considering a London listing should take. The survey had responses from NEDs, fund managers, financiers, analysts, lawyers and accountants in the City.
Commenting on LSE’s Asia Capital Markets Day, Julian Bosdet, Senior Partner of Abchurch, said: “We are delighted to have been given this opportunity by the LSE to share our insights. Abchurch has significant experience working with Asian companies and aims to be at the forefront of enhancing mutual understanding between London-based investors and Chinese companies. We hope that our participation in the LSE’s event will provide investors and companies with a new perspective to think about foreign companies listings.”
