Abchurch expands Chinese client base with Sorbic International win

CHINA

25 January 2010

Abchurch Communications has been appointed to provide ongoing financial and corporate communications support to Sorbic International plc (AIM:SORB), the third largest sorbates producer in China

Abchurch, one of the UK’s leading financial, corporate and investor communications consultancies with extensive expertise in advising companies based in Asia, has taken on a remit to build up the profile and understanding of Sorbic International within the media and investment communities. This also marks Abchurch’s second Chinese-based client win in as many weeks.

Sorbic listed on AIM in September 2008 and is the third largest sorbates producer in China, with a current production capacity of 7,500 tonnes per annum of sorbate, 46% of which is exported to the European and North American markets. The Company operates from its 33,000 m2 production facility in Linyi City, Shandong Province and will double its sorbate production capacity by Q4 2010 to 15,000 tpa with two new lines to be located in Inner Mongolia.

Sorbic operates within a growing industry with global demand for sorbates being driven by the increase in the world’s population and higher demand for food.  As Sodium Benzoate, the main alternative to the Company’s product is being phased out in the US, Europe and Japan, the market opportunity for Sorbic is significant.

Abchurch will be working with its IPREX partner in China to deliver a coordinated programme ensuring media coverage is achieved both in Europe and in China.

Leading the Abchurch account is Henry Harrison-Topham, Managing Director supported by Joanne Shears, Account Director and Mark Dixon, Account Manager.
